Privacy & safeguarding

Your data and your family's safety

Plain English, no jargon. This page explains how we look after your information and how we keep children and families safe.

Last updated: to confirm before launch. This is a plain-English summary and will be supported by our full privacy notice and safeguarding policy.

Privacy in short

  • We only ask for the information we need, for example to register you for an event or reply to a message.
  • We use your details to organise activities, keep you updated if you have asked us to, and report our reach to funders in numbers only, never naming you.
  • We do not sell your data, ever.
  • We keep your information secure and only for as long as we need it.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or unsubscribe, at any time.

What we collect

  • When you register for an event: your name, contact details and the number and ages of your children.
  • When you join our mailing list: your email address.
  • When you contact us, apply for a stall or enquire about sponsorship: the details you provide in the form.

Photography and video

We may take photos and video at events to share our work. We confirm consent for children before the day, and you can ask us not to photograph your family. If a photo of you or your child is already published and you want it removed, just ask.

Your choices

To unsubscribe, use the link in any email or contact us. To ask about your data, email hello@fathersuniteduk.org. If we cannot resolve a concern, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Note for the team: confirm the data controller name, contact, lawful basis and retention periods, and link the full privacy notice here before launch.

Safeguarding in short

Keeping children, young people and families safe is central to everything we do.

  • We have a named safeguarding lead responsible for our activities.
  • Activities involving children take place with appropriate supervision and care.
  • Volunteers are briefed on safeguarding and expected conduct.
  • We confirm consent for children before events.
  • We have a clear way to raise and respond to concerns.

Raising a concern

If you are worried about a child or about conduct at our activities, please tell us. Contact our safeguarding lead:

Safeguarding lead: name and contact to confirm.
Email: hello@fathersuniteduk.org

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. For non-urgent concerns you can also contact your local council's children's services, or the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.

Note for the team: confirm the safeguarding lead, add the full safeguarding policy and any DBS arrangements before launch.

Any questions?

We are happy to explain

If anything here is unclear, or you want to see our full policies, just ask. Funders and partners are welcome to request our governing documents.
