Our work and aims

The need, our aims and our impact

Fathers and their families face real, measurable barriers. Here is the need, the change we work towards, and how we measure our impact.

The need

Why this work matters

Fathers play a vital role in children's confidence, stability and life chances, yet support designed with fathers in mind is scarce.

Stronger relationships

Fathers and children building closer, more confident relationships through shared time and support.

Less isolation

Fathers connected to peers and community, so no one carries the pressures of fatherhood alone.

Positive role models

Young people supported by mentoring and role models who help them make positive choices.

Safer communities

Stronger families and early support helping to build safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

Our aims

What we are working towards

01

Stronger father-child bonds

More fathers actively involved, confident and connected in their children's lives.

02

Less isolation

Fathers supported by trusted peer networks rather than facing challenges alone.

03

Better access to support

Clear, welcoming routes into help, and services that understand fathers.

04

A fairer picture

Positive, accurate stories of fatherhood that challenge harmful stereotypes.

05

Stronger partnerships

Schools, councils and services working better with fathers through us.

06

Lasting change

Long-term, generational impact, not one-off activity.

07

Early prevention

Contribute to the early prevention of youth violence by strengthening fatherhood, role models and belonging, and by developing targeted youth programmes as we grow.

Who we serve

The fathers and families at the centre of our work

  • 01Fathers seeking support, connection or guidance.
  • 02Children and young people who benefit from involved fathers and role models.
  • 03Families wanting healthier communication, confidence and stability.
  • 04Partners and services that want to reach and support fathers better.
How we measure impact

Honest about outcomes

We track what matters and report it plainly to funders and partners.

  • Fathers and families reached, and events delivered
  • Attendance, repeat engagement and referrals into support
  • Father and family feedback on confidence and connection
  • Partnerships formed with schools, councils and services
  • Stories and case studies, shared with consent

Early prevention and youth safety

Prevention that flows from fatherhood

Prevention flows from our core work as a community fatherhood organisation. The presence of fathers and positive role models is widely recognised as a protective factor, while their absence is linked to greater vulnerability. By strengthening fatherhood, belonging and role models early, we build the foundations that keep young people safe, connected and away from violence, including knife and gun crime.

The response to serious youth violence cannot only be reacting after harm. Prevention, starting young and rooted in family and community, is more humane and more effective.

As a fatherhood organisation, our contribution is upstream and protective. We do this by:

  • bringing fathers and children together so young people grow up with presence rather than absence
  • connecting young people with positive male role models and mentoring
  • creating belonging, confidence and identity through community and positive activities
  • giving young people something to be part of early, before other influences reach them

As we grow, we plan to develop more targeted work for young people at risk of involvement in violence, including mentoring, diversionary activities and workshops, in partnership with schools, youth services, the local Violence Reduction Unit and the police. We will build it carefully, with the right safeguarding, training and partnerships in place.
